Today was our ‘rest day’ – so I found the guest laundry down
in the basement. With a few ‘grrrrrs’ I
got the washing done and things partly dried.
The rooms are kept so warm that I decided everything else could finish
off drying in our room. It is such a
good feeling to have a suitcase full of clean clothes again – or will be when
they dry.
So the afternoon adventure was a walk to the
‘Bordalsgjetet’. A beautiful and quite
spectacular gorge. Last year we could
have just walked across the bridge to the other side of the river – but alas
there was so much water rushing through last year it took out the
bridge!!! So we had to walk all the way
through town and then take the road on the other side of the river. It was a very scenic walk. We followed the
track and were delighted with the view.
It is hard to imagine from the photos the huge scale of things. In parts along the track the rocks jutted out
so that we had to bend right down to get past.
It was so beautiful – the roar of the water as it rushed through –
little waterfalls – ferns clinging to the edges of the rocks – magic!
We made our way back not sure if we would get to the Hotel
before the weather broke but we were lucky as the snow seemed to be falling on
the higher peaks of mountains around us.
So now a nice time to relax and enjoy. There is a lounge area overlooking where we
have walked today, so a good spot to sit with a coffee and listen to the in
house musician playing a few ‘golden oldies’.
